Designed as promotional material for the launch of the football film '89' in November 2017, this single page comic tells the incredible story behind Arsenal's last minute championship deciding victory against the mighty Liverpool at Anfield in 1989.
The action concentrates on Arsenal's second goal, from keeper John Lukic's throw, Lee Dixon's pass, Alan Smith's turn and Michael Thomas' flick over Bruce Grobbelaar.
Fantastic to be invited to the World Film Premiere of '89' in London, where I handed over a commemorative print to Arsenal legend & Executive Producer Lee Dixon.

I recently illustrated this Roberto Baggio Comic for the launch of the Italian maestro's new Diadora 'Matchwinner' boots at Pro:Direct's flagship store in London.
The comic tells the story of Roberto's career highlights, and comes up to date with his visit to London.
As well as print copies, the comic was also displayed on interactive screens, and my artwork used for the instore graphics.
Legendary 'Football Italia' TV presenter James Richardson hosted an entertaining Q&A session...
and finally the best bit, when I handed over a framed print to the 'Divine Ponytail' himself!

The idea here was to show Man Utd keeper David de Gea from a striker's point of view - arms and hands everywhere, blocking off the goal.

To add a narrative element I broke the action down into 3 stages, first the Cruyff turn, then the clinical finish, and finally the beaming goal celebration.

I designed a series of 4 prints to celebrate Celtic's European Cup triumph in Lisbon 1967.
The first combines the lyrics to the Celtic '67 song, with the Celtic and Inter Milan line-ups, and the picturesque tree-lined Lisbon stadium.
Second print focuses on all eleven victorious Celtic players plus legendary manager Jock Stein, parading the European cup trophy.
The third print combines elements from the first two prints...
And the final print features Celtic's greatest player Jimmy 'Jinky' Johnstone, in characteristic action, skipping past defenders and unleashing a ferocious shot.

This was a great opportunity - to illustrate the Programme cover for the game between Scotland's deadliest rivals Rangers and Celtic, in the Betfred Cup semi-final at Hampden Park.

Manchester United requested a retro look to this Programme Cover for their game against Arsenal at Old Trafford.
The handshake design, player kits and match ball echo the look of United Review Covers from the sixties. So no logos, no badges, no coloured boots, and a plain white ball!
